Code readers. I love them. I’ve been able to diagnose so many things independent of what the dealer eventually tells me. So many advantages to understanding the sensors and inputs when dealing with a faulty vehicle. On the other hand it seems to becoming more pervasive for techs to believe that clearing codes or “updating” the software/firmware will fix things. The turbo in a brand new Mack truck would beg to differ. It threw a code and rather than really looking to diagnose or understand the software the codes were cleared a software upgrade installed and the turbo burned up shortly thereafter.
What say ye?
